Our love story
First meet
Summer 2015Like a lot of modern day love stories, ours began online. We both 'swiped right,' and the rest is history. Messaging for a few weeks we got to know we shared a love for reading, nature and music. Once our interests had piqued enough, we worked up the courage to meet in person.
First date
July 2015We met at a Starbucks, where we both had a black coffee and chatted. It started to rain as we decided to try and catch the sunset over Paynes Prairie. Once it had died down enough we made our break. Making it just in time, we watched the sunset while swatting mosquitoes.
Moved In Together
July 15, 2017A couple years later, it began to make sense to get a place together. We (including Manuel's snake, Layla and Michaela's cat, Whittums) shared Manuel's tiny bedroom for a few months before finding our lovely little apartment. Moving in in July 2017, it was so nice going from student living to a small quiet community. It's hard to believe we've already been here for over a year!
Proposal
Dec 30, 2017After spending our first Christmas together, we went for a date in St. Augustine. We had dinner on Saint George Street and went over to check out the Ripley's museum. Later we stumbled on some live music. Once we had had a couple drinks and the wind got to us we started back for the car. When we reached it, Manuel pulled the ring from his pocket and popped the question. To which Michaela cried, “YES!!”, and promptly threw up.
